The Elders Character & Conduct Part 1

Andrew Allinson 21 August 2016 Stand Firm

1 Timothy 3:1-7; The terms Overseer, Elder and Pastor describe different aspects of the same role (Acts 20:28). Elders must aspire to the role (want to do it) and be qualified for the role (mostly about character). It is a calling worth laying down your life for – the blood bought church of Christ. Elders are to be exemplary sheep and able to teach. Managing his own household well shows a good track record and that he will care for God’s church not abuse it. It is a position of servant leadership, pointing people to Jesus by word and deed.
